Do you love to read and talk about books? Join Bisexual Organizing Project-BOP's Bi+ Book Club, a place to read fiction, biography, creative non-fiction, history, theory, and activist works. Come discuss readings and ideas about, for, and by bisexuals and other non-monosexual folks. Hosted by Cary. The next Bi+ Book Club meeting will be Wednesday, February 6 at 7:00 pm at Quatrefoil Library: 1220 E Lake St, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55407. We will be discussing "Me Talk Pretty One Day" by David Sedaris. Summary: "Me Talk Pretty One Day is a bestselling collection of essays by American humorist David Sedaris. The book is separated into two parts. The first part consists of essays about Sedaris’s life before his move to Normandy, France, including his upbringing in suburban Raleigh, North Carolina, his time working odd jobs in New York City, and a visit to New York from a childhood friend and her bumpkinish girlfriend. The second section, "Deux", tells of Sedaris’s move to Normandy with his partner Hugh, often drawing humor from his efforts to live in France without speaking the French language and his frustrated attempts to learn it. Prior to publication, several of the essays were read by the author on the Public Radio Internationalprogram, This American Life."

Help This Year's Bisexual+ Institute at Creating Change 2019 Leadership Make it to Detroit!1/7/2019 Creating Change is a national political, leadership, and skill-building conference for the LGBTQ community, organized and hosted annually by the National LGBTQ Task Force. The day-long Bisexual+ Institute at Creating Change is an important event in bi+ organizing! LGBTQIA2S+ (plus) leaders at Creating Change do not get financial compensation for the time, energy, and emotional and intellectual labor they invest into organizing the institute, outside of the waiver of their registration fees. They have to figure out, on their own, how they'll get there, where to stay, how they'll eat, and how to get around at the conference. Statistically, bi+ (plus) folk are more likely to be un- or underemployed than both straight people AND gays and lesbians - and that's especially true for bi+ (plus) folk who are also BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color). In addition, many of us tend to have multiple disabilities and access needs, which becomes another financial barrier (in the U.S., 82.5% of disabled people are UNEMPLOYED). The Bisexual+ Institute is a critically important part of Creating Change, but without facilitators, it won't happen! If you are able, please consider making a contribution by CLICKING HERE, or share to spread the word! Thank you! Organizers from the Bisexual+ Institute at Creating Change 2018 |
