Dear BOP members,
Thank you for your support of BOP's mission to build, serve and advocate for an empowered bisexual, pansexual, fluid, queer, and unlabeled (Bi+) community to promote social justice. 2018 was an excellent year for BOP. We accomplished so much community building and growth as an organization, and we couldn't have done it without the support of you, our members! Seeing you all in community makes our work worthwhile, and is ultimately our organization's purpose. BOP's work is made possible by your support! BOP is an entirely volunteer-run 501c3 non-profit. Our activities are financed by donations from individuals, organizations, and businesses. BOP is passionate about providing free or pay-what-you-can programming, to keep it as accessible as possible for our diverse community. All donations to BOP support our pursuit of this vision, and help us to make it a reality. What does your gift help BOP accomplish?
You told us what you want to see from BOP, and we're listening! BOP is committed to continue pursuing our mission in 2019. Our goal is to create more community spaces for bi+ folks to gather and connect with one another. We can make this happen with your support! We’re back at it ready to throw a fabulous party in the new year! This will be the third Bi-Lesque where we fundraise for one of the largest bisexual non-profits in the nation, Bisexual Organizing Project-BOP. The event will feature a variety of phenomenal local bi+ performers and entertainers in the name of bi-visibility! We believe featuring inclusive art that represents our non-monosexual community is an effective way to battle bi-erasure and bi-phobia. By celebrating individuals within the bi+ umbrella in a joyous and entertaining light, who wouldn't want to jump on the equality train to take down the hierarchy? For a night of entertaining activism join us, #BOP, and your local #Bicommunity at The Pourhouse at 7pm on January 26th for an evening of variety performances including burlesque, aerial, pole, and more! Show is open to everyone 18 years and older. Performers in the show have non-monosexual (bi+) identities and are all supportive of the bi identity if they do not identify as a bisexual. January's Bi+ Book Club selection will be "Kiss of the Fur Queen" by Tomson Highway. We will meet on Wednesday, January 2 at 7:00 pm at Quatrefoil Library. Summary: "Born into a magical Cree world in snowy northern Manitoba, Champion and Ooneemeetoo Okimasis are all too soon torn from their family and thrust into the hostile world of a Catholic residential school. Their language is forbidden, their names are changed to Jeremiah and Gabriel, and both boys are abused by priests. As young men, estranged from their own people and alienated from the culture imposed upon them, the Okimasis brothers fight to survive. Wherever they go, the Fur Queen — a wily, shape-shifting trickster — watches over them with a protective eye. For Jeremiah and Gabriel are destined to be artists. Through music and dance they soar."
