BECAUSE 2023 is taking place on Saturday September 30 & Sunday October 1, at the Wellstone Center. This year will have fewer workshops than previous years, and more in person community building activities. Programming will begin in the afternoon on Saturday, and continue through until Sunday’s BOP Annual Meeting. We will be taking a break from the hybrid online experience this year as we are focusing on enriching the in-person aspects of BECAUSE. We hope to reintroduce hybrid programming as a option in future conferences, because of the accessibility aspect of being able to reach our broader community. As always, BECAUSE is pay what you can. We will be posting on the BECAUSE Event page once registration has been opened.
BECAUSE (“Bi+ Empowerment Conference: A Uniting, Supportive Experience”) is the annual conference of the Bisexual Organizing Project (BOP), dedicated to building empowered bi, pan, fluid, queer, unlabeled (bi+), and allied communities. The conference was founded in 1992 by a handful of bi+ activists and has grown into the largest conference centered around non-monosexual identities in the United States. BECAUSE strives to be welcoming and inclusive - embracing the many intersectionality’s of the bi+ community and encouraging people of all backgrounds and experiences to join us for this eventful weekend full of networking, community building, education, and organizing to create a more welcoming, inclusive, and equitable LGBTQIA community.
BOP will be at five more PRIDE events coming up in August and September.
Columbia Heights PRIDE coincides with Bi+ Visibility Day, September 23. Stop by and help us celebrate.

Build, serve and advocate for an empowered bisexual, pansexual, fluid, queer, and unlabeled (bi+) community to promote social justice.
Within the next five years grow Bisexual Organizing Project (BOP) into a successfully-run Upper Midwest nonprofit organization with annual funding of $100,000 that provides community building, education, and advocacy for the bisexual, pansexual, fluid, queer, and unlabeled (bi+) community and our allies.
