Friday, June 14th 6-9 pm.
This event is FREE and open to all. Bisexual Organizing Project - BOP will be facilitating a flag making art studio. Join us for a free evening of readings, performances, and gallery conversations exploring LGBTQ+ identities and reflecting on the significance of the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. Co-curated by poet, politician, and transgender rights activist Andrea Jenkins. Hear readings from the new anthology "Queer Voices: Poetry, Prose, and Pride" (MNHS Press, May 2019) by authors John Medeiros, Andrea Jenkins, Lisa Marie Brimmer, Anthony Ceballos, and Kimberly Brown. Enjoy pop-up activations in the galleries by performance artists. Take a tour of art in the collection that reflects the social and cultural constructions of gender, sexuality, and identity. Watch the film Stonewall Uprising, detailing the events surrounding the Stonewall riots in 1969, which marked a major turning point in the modern gay civil rights movement in the United States and around the world. Listen to music in the lobby, make art in the studios, add your story to a communal timeline with Telling Queer History and socialize with friends, new and old.
